An America Chippendale Carved Mahogany Slant-front Desk - Massachusetts, circa 1780 with a rectangular top above a slant
lid enclosing a fine fitted interior.  The center compartment
containing 2 small drawers flanked by document drawers and
pigeon holes. Plain front with form graduated long drawers on
short cabriole legs headed by brackets on Ball-and-claw feet.
The top and sides are hand dove-tailed together.

The Sheraton style was inspired by the Louis XVI style and features round tapered legs, fluting and most notably contrasting veneer inlays. Sheraton is a late 18th century neoclassical English furniture style, in vogue ca 1785 - 1800, that was coined by 19th century collectors and dealers to credit furniture designer Thomas Sheraton. This sofa features a crest rail and apron that are medallion and string inlay accented.
